احتفلت الكتيبة الإسبانية التابعة ل"اليونيفيل" بوصول ملوك المجوس بعرض ما يسمى "Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos"، حيث جالوا على منصات وضعت على مركبات عسكرية تابعة للوحدة التكتيكية في الكتيبة الإسبانية، في مقرها في أبل السقي - مرجعيون، وقدموا الهدايا لأكثر من مائة طفل من البلدات المجاورة.

هذا التقليد نفسه ينبع من العهد الجديد حيث يذكر أن ملوك المجوس، ميلتشور، غاسبار وبالتازار، جاؤوا ليلا من أقاصي الأرض لتقديم الهدايا للطفل الالهي يسوع. وبحسب التقليد، يقام هذا الحفل في 5 كانون الثاني، ولكن بسبب سوء الأحوال الجوية هذا العام تم ارجاؤه الى 7 كانون الثاني.

وتم الحفل في قاعدة ميغيل دي سيرفانتيس، في حضور قائد القطاع الشرقي في "اليونيفيل" العميد روميرو ماري وافراد قوة حفظ السلام في الوحدة ألإسبانية.

THE THREE WISE KINGS PRESENT GIFTS IN THE "MIGUEL DE CERVANTES" BASE TO THE CHILDREN OF LOCAL MUNICIPALITIES

With festive lights livening up the streets, Nativity scenes set up in various locations across Lebanon, and holiday tunes setting the holiday atmosphere, UNIFIL SECEAST Spanish Battalion celebrated the arrival of the Kings with a joyful parade called the ‘Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos’. The kings rode upon elaborate floats made on top of tactical vehicles and presented gifts to more than a hundred children from the neighboring municipalities

This tradition itself stems from the New Testament where it is stated that the kings, Melchor, Gaspar, and Balthasar, traveled by night all the way from the farthest confines of the Earth to bring gifts to Jesus, whom they recognized as the Son of God.

Just after the arrival of the Their Majesties the Kings, this time in tactical vehicles such as those used by Spanish Blue Helmets, they proceeded to deliver one by one, gifts for children, who were so eager that they opened the presents received. Some were so surprised that they did not want to unwrap them, preferring to take this unique opportunity to be close to the Kings before enjoying their presents.

Traditionally this event is conducted on the 5th of January but because of the bad weather conditions, this year it was conducted on 7th January.

SECEST Commander, with peacekeepers of UNIFIL, witnessed the magical event in the Miguel de Cervantes Base.
